Jackie Earle Haley (as Rorschach/Walter Kovacs)

This former child star is well-known for his tough and misfit character roles in his movies in the 1970s. Haley plays Rorschach, a superhero cum vigilante who believes that everything in the world is either good or bad.

Billy Crudup (as Doctor Manhattan/Jon Osterman)

Award-winning actor Crudup portrays the role of Dr. Manhattan, a blue-skinned superhero with actual super powers. Actor Keannu Reeves once expressed interest in playing the role.

Malin Akerman (as Silk Spectre II/ Laurie Juspeczyk)

One of FHM’s 100 sexiest women in 2006, Akerman plays the femme fatale character of the second Silk Spectre. Akerman is the only female lead among the Watchmen movie cast members.

Patrick Wilson (as Nite Owl II/ Daniel Dreiberg)

An actor with numerous award nominations tucked under his belt, Wilson plays a former vigilante superhero, Nite Owl, with a specialty on technology.

Matthew Goode (as Ozymandias/ Adrian Veidt)

Goode also plays a retired vigilante cum superhero, Ozymandias, a role that was originally intended for Jude Law.

The inkblots on his mask morph every time his mood changes, making this Watchmen character all the more enigmatic.

Silk Spectre II

In the movie, one cannot forget the female lead role of Silk Spectre II (Laurie Juspeczyk), the daughter of the original Silk Spectre. Dressed in yellow and black sexy suit, Laurie has been trained by her mother as a crime fighter.

Nite Owl

Daniel Dreiberg, better known as the second Nite Owl, is following the footsteps of the first Nite Owl Hollis Mason, even if the former has already retired as a crime fighter. He keeps a hiding place that contains his ship (the Archimedes), costume, and gadgets. Daniel develops a romantic affair with Silk Spectre II.

Doctor Manhattan

Doctor Manhattan, also known as Dr. Jon Osterman, turned into a blue-skinned guy after he was trapped in an intrinsic field subtractor. Of all the Watchmen characters, Dr. Manhattan is the only one who has real superhero powers.

The Comedian

The Comedian is Edward Morgan Blake, who began his vigilante career in the late 1930s as a teenager. Over the years, he became a patriotic hero for the United States. The Comedian was based on the Charlton Comics character Peacemaker, with elements of the Marvel Comics spy character Nick Fury added. Moore and Gibbons saw The Comedian as “a kind of Gordon Liddy character, only a much bigger, tougher guy”.

Ozymandias

Adrian Veidt was formerly the superhero Ozymandias, drawing inspiration from his hero Alexander the Great and the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II, for whom he is named. At the start of Watchmen he has retired to devote his attention to the running of his own enterprises.

If you have seen the poster of the movie Watchmen, your attention was probably captured by a long-haired woman (in yellow and black skin-tight outfit) who’s standing at the middle. She is Malin Akerman, a Swedish actress who plays Silk Spectre II in the movie adaptation of the famous graphic novel of the same title.

Malin Akerman raised some eyebrows and drew some chuckles when she said in a magazine interview that it wasn’t her revealing costume that bothered her—instead, she was more concerned with the discomfort issue. Not only that, Akerman said her latex costume smelled like a “human condom”. Whatever she meant by that statement, the Watchmen fans and critics could only guess.

Despite her costume giving her a hard time on the Watchmen’s set, Malin was still able to prove that she’s more than just a sexy body. Her role as a crime fighter required her to do various stunts, which she learned with the help of the production’s fight coordinators. To prepare for her role, Akerman underwent fight training and physical training for two months before the shooting started.

Malin Akerman has a memorable role in Watchmen since it is considered one of the sexiest superheroes of all time. Of course, she bares her skin and has a steamy, explicit love scene with co-star Patrick Wilson (Nite Owl II) in the movie.

Akerman’s breakout role in Watchmen has been a big boost to her career. People have begun to recognize her, and paparazzis have started following her everywhere.
